Fundraising for Ty Eirin

In 2018-9, some of our current Year 6 children were involved in an intergenerational project with our local care home Ty Eirin and spent some time getting to know the residents while taking part in different fun activities including art, board games and quizzes. Due to Covid 19, life now is very different for these residents as they are unable to come together for social activities and we are also unable to visit. As part of the Enrichment programme, 6R decided to think of ways we could help the residents at this difficult time.

To raise money to buy some new games and activities for the residents to enjoy when restrictions are lifted, 6R ran a ‘guess how many sweets’ competition and also completed a sponsored walk, spending 2 hours doing laps of the MUGA. Some children walked over 8km in this time and everyone persevered despite being cold and tired by the end.

Thanks to the children’s hard work and the incredible generosity of parents, teachers and other pupils in sponsoring 6R, we completely surpassed our fundraising target and raised £280. We will use this money to buy the planned activities for Ty Eirin care home and will also be making donations to the Alzheimer’s Society and Dementia UK.
