Upper School

GCSE Celebrations

On Thursday 12th August we were able to share and celebrate the success of our Upper School students here at Tonyrefail Community School. It was wonderful to see so many happy faces collecting GCSE and BTEC results. These results are a testament to our students’ commitment, resilience and hard work, in a year that presented many unexpected challenges alongside the demands of their studies. We cannot be prouder of their incredible achievements.

There were some wonderful Year 11 individual performances with many students really excelling, which contributed to the 470 A* – A grades, 155 of which were A*s, in this year’s results. The Capped 9 Points Score indicator was an impressive 392 points, meaning that on average every student gained 6 B grades and 3 C grades. What an achievement!

In order to accomplish their goals our incredible Year 11 students have shown maturity, a steadfastness and a fantastic work ethic in this most challenging of years and it is marvellous to see them celebrate the results they so richly deserve.

Success continued in Upper school with 74% of our Year 10 pupils achieving an A*-C grade in GCSE English Literature.

Another area of success are the results achieved by our Year 9, with a fantastic 95% of the entire year group achieving at least two A* – C grades – even though they completed these two years early!

Thank you to the staff who taught, believed in and inspired our students this year and thank you to the parents and carers who supported, helped and encouraged their children.

But above all else, thank you to the students who made us smile, made us proud and made us thankful to have been able to play our part in their very bright futures! We look forward to seeing so many of you back in Senior School and for those venturing to new destinations we wish you all the best!
